Glass Splashbacks: A Guide to Kitchen and Bathroom Glass

Glass splashbacks have become hugely popular in UK kitchens and bathrooms — and for good reason. They’re hygienic, easy to clean, heat-resistant, and available in virtually any colour you can imagine.

The Glass

All our splashback glass is toughened safety glass, heat-treated to BS EN 12150. We typically recommend 6mm toughened for splashbacks. 8mm or 10mm is also available for larger panels.

Back-Painting: Any Colour You Like

Our splashbacks are back-painted — the colour is applied to the rear face and viewed through the front, giving a deep, glossy finish.

Low Iron Glass for True Colour

Standard glass has a subtle green tint. For lighter colours (whites, creams, pastels), opt for low iron glass for true colour accuracy.

Using Glass Behind a Hob

Perfectly safe behind gas and electric hobs, provided the glass is toughened.

• Leave a minimum 50mm gap from gas burners
• Electric and induction hobs can sit flush

Socket and Switch Cutouts

We can supply cutouts for sockets, switches and ducting. Cutouts must be specified before toughening.

Measuring Your Splashback

• Measure in millimetres
• Measure at three points (walls aren’t always square)
• Allow 1-2mm tolerance

Fixed with mirror adhesive (permanent) or screw fixings with chrome caps (removable).
