Internal domestic staircase project in Nottinghamshire by Simply Stairs. The existing spindles were removed and replaced with clear glass infill panels to give the staircase a more contemporary, light-filled finish.
The glass needed to follow the shape of the existing stair treads precisely. Templates supplied by the joiner allowed every panel to be CNC cut accurately for a clean, considered fit from the first step through to the landing.
Project Overview
The client wanted to modernise a traditional internal staircase without losing the character of the surrounding joinery. Replacing the old spindles with clear glass infill panels would create a cleaner look, open up the stairwell and allow more natural light to move through the space.

Solution Delivered
We supplied bespoke 10mm clear toughened glass panels, CNC cut to the joiner’s templates and shaped to follow the profile of each stair tread. The polished edges give the glass a crisp, refined finish, while the accurate shaping allows it to sit neatly within the existing staircase design.
The panels were supplied for use with glass clamps and a routed handrail by others, creating a light, open balustrade that removes the visual weight of traditional spindles without overpowering the original joinery.
